I rented this textbook for my summer physics class. I have been using it for about two months now. The book is outlined fairly well and provides excellent examples with each concept. However, sometimes I feel they overcomplicate a certain topics, so it leaves confused after reading it. Although Coletta gives the answers to the odd-numbered questions at the end-of-chapter questions, a major downside to this textbook is that they ONLY offer an e-book version of the solutions to this book for around $40. I follow more when I have the physical object in front of me and not on the screen.Product details

All I expected
This is a great book and it is being used in my physics class for our on line homework. It really came in handy for hands on use.
I uniformly dislike textbooks--they're a necessary evil--so I usually do not review them. However, I am taking the time to review Coletta's "Physics Fundamentals," because it is glaringly bad. Complex topics are not presented well or in the depth necessary to succeed in the problems at the end of the chapters. There are very difficult questions at the end of chapters (which is good), but the requisite knowledge, instruction, and examples are often not found within the text of the chapter. Particularly grating is the fact that many questions require an encyclopedic knowledge, mastery, and recall of the material in previous chapters. No aids or references to prior material are included in the questions, as many other textbooks would do. Such recall is not typically expected in other introductory textbooks, and is counter to the typical collegiate curricular MO of "cram and flush." Serway and Jewett's "Physics for Scientists and Engineers" is a much better introductory physics text. Colleta's book gives too little, and expects too much.
bought this for the class and it's a pretty good book. everything is explained and you have good examples in every chapter. too bad teacher is not as good as the book.
